Google maps of Rio de Janeiro will change soon. This comes as a response to complaints made by the likes of BBC and O Globo stating that Google maps display favelas more prominently than tourist attractions in the city.

The BBC points out that, on some sizes of the Google maps for the city, favelas like Villa Imaculate Conceicao stand out more prominently than places like Cosmo Velho and the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Newspaper O Globo, too, says that Google maps are giving the false impression that the city of Rio de Janeiro is nothing but an immense cluster of favelas.

Spokesman Felix Ximenes says this will soon change. He tells O Globo that Google maps that did not prioritize how place labels displayed on the Rio map will update the Google maps for the city such that place labels will be displayed in different sizes and favela names will only show up after users zoom in to know more on a specific locality.

Filed in archive Best of on November 16, 2011

Both the companies Google and Spotify are more likely to collaborate for introducing YouTube like music facility. Google looking forward for a new music streaming service are working on deal to make this happen.

Various reports suggest that Google is approaching Spotify to be its partner for their upcoming music streaming facility which is a long awaited project by Google. As stated by Electric Pig, Google can collaborate with Spotify for this purpose or can go all the way to acquire Spotify, this will certainly help Spotify to expand its base in United States.

Last year Spotify reached to a mark of 1 million playing members worth almost $1 billion, while the first quarter earnings of Google itself was around $2.3 billion, well it clearly suggests Google has enough capital to acquire Spotify.

Video marketing can give new companies a head start in international markets. At a time when social networking sites, smartphones and free video platforms have become an integral part of people's lives, most businesses today consider it important to have video on their website. It's potential goes far beyond the front page, however, since it can be incorporated into many forms of digital media.

Google Maps, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs, and email are all examples of places where video can benefit marketing strategies. In addition, new companies that are looking for funding can use short video clips to deliver targeted messages to potential investors. Video is a great medium for these proposals because it allows interested parties to get a feel for who is behind the service or product.
