Virgin America客机上的Google Maps

　　刚于8月正式营业的Virgin America（维珍美国航空公司）与Google之间有个合作，则将Google Maps直接嵌入客机的座椅系列里。在下面这则Virgin America的广告里，Google Earth产品经理Chikai Ohazama及Virgin America总监Charles Ogilvie共同演示了如何在Virgin America客机里进行即时聊天，以及直接使用座椅系统（Red，via crunchgear）里的Google Maps查看飞机当前的位置：



　　Virgin America客机里的Google Maps数据也是来自Google服务器，但由于在Virgin America的内部网络配置了缓存机制，所以地图加载速度更快。乘客不仅可以即时通过Google Maps查看自己离目的地还有多远，也可以知道还需要多少时间才到达。乘客最高可对目的地地图进行八个级别的缩放操作，因此Google Maps还可以作为初步了解新目的地相关资料的工具。
