Google Earth增加纽约时报准实时新闻图层
　　互联网的一个主要作用是传播信息。通过互联网，我们可以了解世界各地的新闻。很多门户站早就推出了不同地区的新闻版块，以方便读者阅读。试想一下，如果在Google Earth上面，我们在浏览地球的同时，如果也能阅读到相应地区的最新新闻，那该有多方便。这样一来，Google Earth就成了新闻的地理载体。

　　Google今天宣布已经给Earth加上了一个新的图层，允许用户直接在Google Earth上面阅读最新的新闻报道。为该图层提供新闻内容的是美国的《纽约时报》，以新闻来源可靠性高而闻名。要在Google Earth上看到该图层的新闻内容，你要先打勾Google Earth的"Geographic Web"文件夹，然后双击Preview子文件夹中的New York Times：

　　然后就可以在Google Earth上寻找纽约时报的图标，点击即可阅读当地最新的有关新闻报道：

　　这个新闻图层的内容是每15分钟更新一次，因此你可以把它看作是"准实时"的新闻报道。除了这种新闻图层外，Google Earth上面还有丰富的多媒体图层，包括来自维基百科的条目、Panoramio的图片及YouTube的视频等等。如果你有时间，Google Earth是了解地球的最佳工具。
